If You Don't Like Apples, Then Why Do You Shake My Tree?

Writer's picture: RoseRose

If you don’t like apples, then why do you shake my tree?

You wander my garden, knowing where you’d rather be.

You touch every petal, whisper to my leaves,

But you know all along, you're just here to thieve.

So why do you linger, when you know you are free?

You don’t love this orchard, yet you still shake my tree.

You take what you want, but I see through the game,

You are never here for me, just the thrill of the claim.

You hate your own hunger, a craving you can't face,

So you envy my peace, my love, my embrace.

Deception comes easy, but it burns you inside,

You can't stand my mirror, when yours only lie.

You loathe your reflection, chasing shadows in the night,

But you envy my freedom, my comfort, my light.

You hide behind desire, but it tears you apart,

How can you ever love me, when you can't love your heart?

It’s you who can’t admit the longing you conceal,

Hiding behind bravado, afraid of what you feel.

The light can love the dark, for they dance hand in hand,

No need for division, in this vast, boundless land.

You call me forbidden, a fruit out of reach,

But I give it gladly, for a taste beyond the breach.

The thrill of excitement, the spark of the new,

I would share freely, just to show you something true.

But I love my apples, and this tree is mine.

Each branch, every blossom, in their own perfect line.

I nurture my roots, and I drink from the rain,

No need for your hands to ease any pain.

I bloom for myself in the warmth of my sun,

I don’t need your shadows to feel like I’ve won.

My roots run deep and my branches reach wide,

I stand in my power with nothing to hide.

I can embrace my shadows, the whispers of my past,

Finding strength in the depths where my truth is steadfast.

But you turn from your darkness, afraid of what you'll find,

Yet deep down, you love my light, desiring what’s aligned.

For shadows and light are needed, to craft a masterpiece whole,

Each nuance paints the picture, every hue plays a role.

In the dance of contrast, true beauty comes alive,

For without both their whispers, art would cease to thrive.

But you don't like my apples, you just shake my tree,

Seeking thrill in my chaos, not my roots that run deep.

You take what you want, but it's clear to see,

Your heart's never been with me, you just craved what was free.
